O Presidente da República veio à nossa escola.
Para comemorar o segundo aniversário da tomada de posse, o Sr. Presidente da República veio à nossa escola para uma aula aberta com os alunos do secundário.
A sessão iniciou com uma apresentação do Comandante Ângelo Felgueiras, sobre a motivação, trabalho e superação pessoal.
Seguindo depois uma curta intervenção do Ministro da Educação e depois a tão esperada aula aberta com o Presidente e Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
No final o Presidente e o Ministro da Educação transcreveram a primeira e segunda estrofes de "Os Lusíadas" dando início à nossa edição da obra manuscrita, projecto da escola, que será agora continuado por todos os alunos e professores da escola.
Em Portugal, temos um sistema eleitoral é de voto direito ou seja, cada cidadão vota directamente no partido ou representante que quer.
Na eleição para o Presidente da República o sistema consagrado na Constituição da República Portuguesa é o maioritário a duas voltas.
Este sistema foi introduzido em Portugal pela Constituição de 1976 apenas para as eleições presidenciais.
Segundo a Constituição, um candidato para ser eleito necessita da maioria de 50% mais um dos votos validamente expressos. Caso nenhum candidato consiga esse número, realizar-se-à uma segunda volta apenas entre os dois candidatos mais votados.
O Presidente da República é o Chefe do Estado. Assim, nos termos da Constituição da República, o Presidente "representa a República Portuguesa", "garante a independência nacional, a unidade do Estado e o regular funcionamento das instituições democráticas" e é o Comandante Supremo das Forças Armadas.
Como garante do regular funcionamento das instituições democráticas tem como especial incumbência a de, nos termos do juramento que presta no seu ato de posse, "defender, cumprir e fazer cumprir a Constituição da República Portuguesa".
No relacionamento com os outros órgãos de soberania, compete-lhe, no que diz respeito ao Governo, nomear o Primeiro-Ministro, "ouvidos os partidos representados na Assembleia da República e tendo em conta os resultados eleitorais" das eleições para a Assembleia da República. E, seguidamente, nomear, ou exonerar, os restantes membros do Governo, "sob proposta do Primeiro-Ministro".
Ao Primeiro-Ministro compete "informar o Presidente da República acerca dos assuntos respeitantes à condução da política interna e externa do país".
O Presidente da República pode ainda presidir ao Conselho de Ministros, quando o Primeiro-Ministro lho solicitar.
O Presidente só pode demitir o Governo, ouvido o Conselho de Estado, quando tal se torne necessário para assegurar o regular funcionamento das instituições democráticas (o que significa que não o pode fazer simplesmente por falta de confiança política).

The President of the Republic came to our school
To commemorate the second anniversary of the inauguration, the President of the Republic came to our school for an open class with the high school students.
The session began with a presentation by Commander Ângelo Felgueiras on motivation, work, and self-improvement.
Following a short intervention by the Minister of Education, the long-awaited open class with the President and Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa started.
In the end, the President and the Minister of Education transcribed the first and second stanzas of "Os Lusíadas" beginning our edition of the handwritten work, a school project, which will now be continued by all the students and teachers of the school.
In Portugal, we have an electoral system where every citizen votes directly for the party or representative of their choice.
In the election for the President of the Republic, if a candidate gets over 50% of the votes, they get elected. If there is a tie, then a second round is mandatory.
This system was introduced in Portugal by the 1976 Constitution only for the presidential elections.
According to the Constitution,in order to be elected a candidate needs a majority of 50% plus one of the votes cast. If no candidate obtains this number, a second round will be held only between the two most voted candidates.
The President of the Republic is the Head of State. Thus, under the Constitution of the Republic, the President "represents the Portuguese Republic", "guarantees national independence, the unity of the State and regular functioning of democratic institutions" and he is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
The Prime Minister is responsible "for informing the President of the Republic about matters relating to the conduct of domestic and foreign policy of the country."
The President of the Republic may also preside over the Council of Ministers when the Prime Minister so requests.
The President can only dismiss the Government after consulting the Council of State when this becomes necessary to ensure the proper functioning of democratic institutions.
